2. 12 Day Schedule for Preparation on a Cricket Strip


12 Day Schedule for Preparation on a Cricket Strip Prior to and including Match Day

A 'typical' pitch preparation programme for a 12 -day period albeit a minimum of 10 days can be utilised :

Day 1
Pitch identified from pre season plan and provide initial Mow & water (1 hour)

Day 2
Thin the sward and minor repairs & water (1 hour)

Day 3
Thin the sward and minor repairs & water (1 hour)

Day 4
Roll (If dry enough), Mow, Scarify, Irrigate; (1 hour)

Day 5
Roll, Drag Brush (1 hour)

Day 6
Drag-brush, Scarify, Mow; (1 hour)

Day 7
Roll Drag-brush; (½-1½ hours),

Day 8
Roll, Drag-brush; (½-1½ hours),

Day 9
Drag-brush, Scarify, Mow; (This is also the last time to safely irrigate the pitch before the match day) (1 hour)

Day 10
Roll, Drag-brush; Mow; (½-1 hour)

Day 11
Roll Drag-brush; Mow; (½-1 hour),

Day 12
Roll Drag-brush, Scarify, Mow, Mark-out (or on match day);(½-1 hour)

Match Day
Drag-brush, Scarify, Double mow (1/16"-2/16"), Final Roll of 10 minutes, Mark-out, Install stumps, place 30-yard circles markers (1stXI games) Position sight screens and boundary (1½ hour)
